Ideas for women's self-presentation skills
Hi all,
What do you think are the most important skills women need in terms of self presentation, considering both the extra sexism they face compared to when men talk about themselves, and also considering mental health issues like potential lack of self-esteem and self-belief in NEETs. How can those skills be balanced with these obstacles?

Re: Ideas for women's self-presentation skills
Hey everyone,
Alexia, this is a very interesting topic! I believe that the Key Skills for Self-Presentation are the following:
1. Self-Esteem and Self-Confidence: It's crucial to believe in yourself and recognize your abilities and achievements. Don't forget that positive self-talk and affirmations can be really helpful here.
2. Personal Appearance: How you present yourself visually can make a big difference. This includes grooming, dressing appropriately, and maintaining good posture. I think that comfort and authenticity in our appearance can boost our confidence.
3. Non-Verbal Communication: Body language, facial expressions, and eye contact play a huge role in how others perceive us, so practicing open and assertive body language can help convey confidence and competence.
4. Verbal Communication: Clear and assertive communication is essential. This means speaking confidently, using a strong voice, and avoiding filler words.
5. Behavior and Etiquette: Politeness, respect, and professionalism in interactions are important and consistency in behavior helps build a reliable and trustworthy image.
Now, those skills can be balanced if we have some of the following into our minds:
1. Recognize that sexism exists and prepare strategies to counteract it, such as assertiveness training and setting boundaries.
2. Therapy and counseling can be invaluable. Mindfulness practices like meditation, exercise, and engaging in hobbies can also improve mental well-being and self-confidence.
3. For NEETs, engaging in skill-building programs, workshops, or courses focused on personal development and employability can be very beneficial and also volunteering and internships can provide valuable experience and boost confidence.
I hope you find my thoughts helpful. Balancing these skills with the obstacles faced is a journey. It's about self-awareness, continuous learning, and support. Every step forward is progress.
